100% Cotton Percale (Domestic)
Many people assume that “percale” means only a polyester-cotton blend, which
is NOT true. A percale can be made of 100% cotton as well. Percale fabric
begins its life as two sets of un-dyed, interwoven threads, known as a
“greycloth” that will later have its color and pattern “sprayed” on. The
“thread count” of a percale fabric is found by counting the threads going in
both directions inside one square inch of the fabric. The higher the thread
count along with the quality of the material used to make the threads
themselves leads to increased durability, luxuriousness, and a “softness” of
the sheets to the skin.
Even within cotton itself, there are many differences in grade. Just as grapes grown in certain regions are favored by wine connoisseurs over grapes grown in others, the quality of cotton can be estimated by its origin. Our domestic cotton is an excellent breed called “pima” cotton. This is a long-staple cotton, and is relatively inexpensive, considering its high quality. The fertile Nile valley which also produces the same breed of Pima Cotton as the United States, calls their more luxuriant textile “Egyptian Cotton.” With its longer, silkier, and thicker fibers, this cotton is woven into the absolute best percales.
We carry BOTH Egyptian… and domestically produced “pima” cotton… in several thread counts and colors. Whereas, our Egyptian cotton is grown and manufactured overseas and imported to the United States, we have some limitations in terms of sizes, depths, etc. that are readily available. This is NOT the case with our domestically produced 100% cotton bed linens… which are individually measured, cut & sewn to our customer’s exact specifications, inspected, packaged and then shipped directly to their homes.
This means that any of our 300, 400 & 600 thread count 100% domestically produced cotton fabrics shown below can be selected and made into sheets, comforters and other products in whatever length, width, & DEPTH (For absolutely any of those “deep pocket” mattresses, etc.) specified! Sheets may be purchased as fitted bottoms only, flat top sheets only… or sets (Fitted Bottom, Top Sheet & Pillow Cases). If you have a waterbed, we make bed linens for those. If you have an adjustable bed, we make bed linens for those.

Over the years, a drawback of 100% cotton (especially in sheets) has been that they tend to wrinkle more than polyester/cotton blends and hence require more ironing. Note that our 600TC are constructed with a relatively new WRINKLE FREE process.

NOTE: Wrinkle Free cotton fabrics are treated with a solution that bonds with the cotton fibers cross-linking them to provide elasticity and stability making them resist wrinkles without changing the cotton’s natural breath-ability, or soft feel.
